The Crematorium grounds are open every day between the following hours:

Weekdays, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Saturday, 9:00am - 4:30pm
Sundays and Bank Holidays, 9:00am - 4:30pm

The Office is open from 08:30am - 16:30pm Monday to Friday.

The grounds are open longer during the summer and closing times are displayed at the main gates.

Car parking is available to the front and side of the crematorium grounds.  Facilities include a chapel with seating for 80 people comfortably and room for approx 30 standing. Should it be necessary additional mourners can be accommodated in the foyer. Music can be played on an organ situated in the chapel or alternatively CD and tape facilities are available. Cremation can take place Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 3.30pm on the half hour.

Disabled visitors may park either in the marked bays by the chapel or by the office. There is a ramped access to the Chapel, Book of Remembrance Room and Office. Toilet facilities can be found by the main gates and additional facilities are available in the chapel where the disabled toilets are located.

After the Cremation service, where no immediate arrangements have been made for the final resting-place of the cremated remains, they will be retained by the Crematorium, pending a decision, for a period of up to 28 days. Unless we are notified of a specific location prior to this time, the cremated remains will be laid to rest in a recorded area of the Gardens of Remembrance.

Following a cremation service, tributes may be left in the floral display area. A name card is provided for each service. The tributes remain for a period of three days and are removed in a set order. If the name card or tributes are moved from their original position, we may remove the flowers at an earlier time.

No flowers are permitted on the lawns in the Garden of Remembrance. Tributes can be placed within the designated areas at the chapel in the vases provided. These vases must not be removed from the chapel area.

Plastic fencing or other surroundings, stone chippings, unauthorised memorials, containers or vases are not permitted in any areas of the Gardens of Remembrance or grounds and will be removed.

Book of Remembrance

The Books of Remembrance are located in a separate building to the left of the main drive and are on view daily, providing a lasting, simple, dignified memorial. The book is open every day at the appropriate page allowing inscriptions to be seen on each anniversary. An easy to use computerised book allows for inscriptions to be seen at all other times.

Inscriptions can be up to eight lines and should not exceed 38 characters and spaces per line. Entries over five lines may incorporate an emblem (for an additional cost) of a regimental badge, flower or personal tribute. Entries can be inscribed under the date of death or any other day or anniversary of the families choosing.

Miniature Books and Memorial cards are also available and provide a personal copy of the entries in the book of remembrance. The card covers one inscription whilst the book has room for further inscriptions.

Memorial Wall Plaques

The memorial wall is located in the cloister at the side of the crematorium chapel. The stone tablets come in two sizes, large or small allowing for inscriptions up to either 3 or 6 lines. The plaques are available on 5 or 10 year renewable leases. Flower containers are located in the cloister so floral tributes can be left.

Vase and Tablet

These are white marble vase blocks holding a grey granite tablet upon which an inscription may be placed. They are leasehold for a 10 year period after which they may be renewed. Floral tributes may be placed in the flower container sited in the top of the vase block.

Leather Panel

The leather panel memorial scheme is located within the Book of Remembrance room at Altrincham Crematorium. Placed within a wooden frame, the leather panels are sized approximately 10” x 2”. Each panel is carefully lettered with your chosen wording and is inscribed in gold leaf. The memorial is available on a five or ten year lease.

Niche Wall

The niche wall is situated off the main drive between the Crematorium and Dunham Lawn Cemetery. Each niche chamber accommodates two sets of cremated remains caskets and is sealed at the front with an engraved granite plaque. Purchased on a renewable lease for a period of ten or twenty years, the cost includes the casket, granite plaque with an inscription of up to eighty letters over four lines and a posy holder. For an additional fee, a gilded emblem may be added and examples of available designs are shown on the application form.

Keepsakes

We now stock the Cariad Collection of Cremated Remains products. The range includes caskets, urns and keepsakes. Urns are available in bio-degradable, metal and alabaster, with the metal ones having a miniature version available to retain a portion of remains. There is also a range of jewellery including silver bracelets and chains with a choice of heart, teardrop and ribbon pendants each holding a small portion of remains.
