Weymouth Crematorium was opened in 1939 and occupies a 6-acre site shared with Weymouth Cemetery.
The crematorium chapel at Weymouth seats approximately 100 mourners and is equipped with an electronic organ and audio equipment for playing compact discs (Cd's). An induction loop system is installed for the hard of hearing. The chapel is on a single level, giving easy access for wheelchairs and if required a wheelchair is available. A member of staff will be available to offer assistance required. It is your right to hold a service defining the type of music and ceremony that you would like. Any aspect of the service may be discussed in advance with members of staff at the Weymouth Crematorium office who will be happy to assist you.
Gardens of Remembrance are located at the Weymouth Crematorium and the Portland Cemetery. The gardens at the Portland Cemetery offer the facilities for cremated remains to be scattered and a Portland Stone Memorial Plaque affixed to the wall of remembrance within the garden.
The gardens at the Weymouth Crematorium are large lawned areas with a good selection of roses, trees and shrubs. Rose beds are at the centre of the gardens allowing for the placing of memorial plaques adjacent to roses and trees. Memorial seats are located and are available for lease within the grounds, along with stone memorial plaques that can be purchased and fixed to the memorial walls enclosing the gardens. A tree dedication scheme is available with a tree plaque that can be dedicated to a loved one beneath a mature or newly planted tree.
The Book of Remembrance is a permanent memorial and is housed in its own room, where floral tributes can be placed. There a many other memorial options available so please feel free to request a memorial information pack outlining the various options in more detail.
