The Council provides cemeteries at West Bromwich, Tipton, Oldbury, Smethwick, Wednesbury and Rowley Regis, along with crematoria at West Bromwich and Rowley Regis.
Opening Hours: Monday - Thursday 9.00am - 5.30pm, Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm
The Cemeteries have provision for burials of various denominations, with a separate Muslim section at West Bromwich Cemetery.
A service may be held at the Crematorium Chapel prior to an internment at Rowley Regis.
For those who have suffered the special loss of a stillborn or very young child, an area is set aside at West Bromwich Cemetery for the purpose of internment.
The Crematoria are situated at West Bromwich and Rowley Regis, where services for cremations are held at the multi-denominational chapel.
You may choose either organ or taped music to be played during the service.
Relatives of the deceased may choose to have the cremated remains interned in a family grave in any of the Council's cemeteries, or collected and taken elsewhere for scattering or internment.
Alternatively, they may be dispersed in the Garden of Remembrance at the crematorium under the careful supervision of crematorium staff, with the family in attendance, if so desired. A range of memorial schemes is also available from the crematorium. The Remembrance Room, situated adjacent to the chapel, is open every day and contains the Book of Remembrance.
Cut flowers may be placed in the vases located adjoining the Remembrance Room.
The waiting room and toilets, including facilities for the disabled, are to be found in the crematoria buildings.
Listed below are details of the memorials, which can be purchased if desired:
- The Book of Remembrance inscriptions are entered under the date of death and a page is turned daily so that the names appear annually on the anniversary day.
- Memorial Cards bearing a copy of individual inscriptions are available as a personal memento.
- Commemorative plaques are displayed on the crematorium chapel wall.
- Sanctum niches that allow the cremated remains to be placed within a personalised granite memorial.
The annual memorial service, conducted by representatives of the local churches of all denominations, takes place during the festive season in the crematorium Chapel at West Bromwich; further details can be obtained from the address above.
Further information regarding fees and charges in connection with inscriptions in the Book of Remembrance or plaques at the crematoria can be obtained from the Sandwell Bereavement Services Office at West Bromwich Crematorium at the address above.
