Agecroft Crematorium

Agecroft Cemetery was opened in 1903, and to date more than 48,000 interments have been carried out within the 45 acres of grounds.

Agecroft is the newest of the City’s cemeteries, being opened to accommodate additional new grave space due to the full utilisation of Weaste Cemetery.

The newly built toilets are positioned to the left of the main entrance into the cemetery and there are a number of water taps within the grounds for use by visitors.

There is a one way system for vehicles in operation which must be adhered to for insurance reasons. The authority cannot be held responsible for accidents which occur if entering or exiting at the wrong point.

The crematorium building was formerly the old Non-Conformist burial chapel. It was converted into the crematorium in January 1957, and to date has carried out over 46,000 cremation services. The chapel seats up to 80 mourners and is accessible for wheelchair users.

As part of ongoing improvements in the service, a loop system, public address system and improved audio system have been installed in the building in recent years.
